Started with the lineart of the character on a grey background, added the values over it, added the color between the two, and did the background underneath everything. I used some custom brushes for the wood on the supports and the rock wall. The shading was done using both freehand brushes and gradients.
Excellent Megan, very well done. I like the character and the little details like the gear and head lamplight. Looks like he is used to being underground. Good colors and shadowing.

ReplyDeleteYeah. For the light source, I just did a really simple radial gradient with an off-white color in the center fading to black on its own layer, then played with the blending settings. I think it was a mix of Overlay and Multiply on different opacities.
